Simon Peter or Cephas, the first pope, Prince of the Apostles, and founder, with St. Paul, of the see of Rome.
Peter was a native of Bethsaida, near Lake Tiberias, the son of John, and worked, like his brother St. Andrew, as a fisherman on Lake Genesareth. Andrew introduced Peter to Jesus, and Christ called Peter to become adisciple. In Luke is recounted the story that Peter caught so large an amount of fish that he fell down before the feet of Jesus and was told by the Lord, “Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching men”. Jesus also gave Simon a new name: Cephas, or the rock. Becoming a disciple of Jesus, Peter acknowledged him as "... the Messiah, the son of the living God”. Christ responded by saying: "... you are Peter and upon this rock I will build my church.... He added: “I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven”. Peter was always listed as the first of the Apostles in all of the New Testament accounts and was a member of the inner circle of Jesus, with James and John.
It is certain that Peter died in Rome and that his martyrdom came during the reign of Emperor Nero, probably in 64. Testimony of his martyrdom is extensive, including Origen, Eusebius of Caesarea, St. Clement I of Rome, St. Ignatius, and St. Irenaeus. According to rich tradition, Peter was crucified on the Vatican Hill upside down because he declared himself unworthy to die in the same manner as the Lord.

Know this well: no prophecy of Scripture can be handed over to private interpretation)
Chapter 1
1Symeon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who have been sanctified by our God and Savior Jesus Christ and have received a faith as precious as ours:
2may grace and peace abound in you through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.
3His divine power has given us everything we need for life and piety. First the knowledge of the One who called us through his own Glory and Might, by which we were given the most extraordinary and precious promises.
4Through them you share in the divine nature, after repelling the corruption and evil desires of this world.
5So, strive with the greatest determination and increase your faith with strength, strength with knowledge,
6knowledge with moderation, moderation with constancy, constancy with piety,
7piety with mutual affection, mutual affection with charity.
8If all these riches are in you so as to abound in you, you will not be idle and useless; you will rather be rooted in the knowledge of Jesus Christ our Lord.
9Whoever is not aware of this is blind and shortsighted and is forgetful of the cleansing of former sins.
10Therefore, brothers and sisters, strive more and more to respond to the call of God who chose you. If you do so, you will never stumble.
11Moreover you will be generously granted entry to the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
12So I shall always remind you of these things, though you know them and remain firm in the truth that you have.
13It seems fitting that as long as I live in the tent of this body, I refresh your memory of them,
14knowing that my tent may soon be folded up, as our Lord Jesus Christ has shown me.
15I will, nonetheless, endeavor to see that after my departure, you will be constantly reminded of all this.
16Indeed, what we taught you about the power and the return of Christ Jesus our Lord was not drawn from myths or formulated theories. We ourselves were eyewitnesses of his majesty,
17when he received glory and honor from God the Father, when from the magnificent Glory this most extraordinary word came upon him: "This is my beloved Son, this is my Chosen One."
18We ourselves heard this voice from heaven when we were with him on the holy mountain.
19Therefore, we believe most firmly in the message of the prophets which you should consider rightly as a lamp shining in a dark place, until the break of day, when the Morning Star shines in your hearts.
20Know this well: no prophecy of Scripture can be handed over to private interpretation,
21since no prophecy comes from human decision, for it was men of God, moved by the Holy Spirit, who spoke.

I believe the two witnesses are Moses and Elijah. They were with Christ at the transfiguration so there is reason to believe these two could play a role in the plan of man's ultimate redemption.

Chapter 4
3You have given enough time, in the past, to living as the pagans do: a life of excess, evil passions, drunkenness, orgies and worship of idols.
4They now find it strange that you are no longer swept along with them in this ruinous flood, and they misinterpret it.
5But they will be accountable to the one who is ready to judge the living and the dead.
6The Gospel has been preached to many who are now dead. As humans they received a deadly sentence, but through the Spirit they shall live for God.
7The end of all things is near; live wisely and spend evening time praying.
8Above all, let your love for one another be sincere, for love covers a multitude of sins.
9Welcome one another into your houses without complaining.
10Serve one another with the gifts each of you received, thus becoming good managers of the varied graces of God.
11If you speak, deliver the word of God; if you have a special ministry, let it be seen as God's power so that, in everything, God may be glorified in Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and power forever and ever. Amen.
12My dear people, do not be surprised that you are being tested by fire. It is not an unusual occurrence.
13Instead, you should be glad to share in the sufferings of Christ because, on the day his Glory is revealed, you will also fully rejoice.
14You are fortunate if you are insulted because of the name of Christ, for the Spirit of glory rests on you.
15惟願你們中誰也不要因做兇手,或強盜,或壞人,或做煽亂的人而受苦。 15I suppose that none of you should suffer for being a murderer, a thief, a criminal or an informer;
16but if anyone suffers on account of being a Christian, do not consider it a disgrace; rather let this name bring glory to God.
17The time of judgment has come and it begins with God's household. If its beginning so affects us, what will be the end of those who refuse to believe in the Gospel?
18If the just one is barely saved, what will happen to the sinner and unbeliever?
19So, then, if you suffer according to God's will, entrust yourself to the faithful Creator and continue to do good.
13Greetings from the community in Babylon, gathered by God, and from my son, Mark.

Mark
Chapter 9
7But a cloud formed, covering them in a shadow, and from the cloud came this word, "This is my Son, the Beloved; listen to him."
Chapter 3
33He replied, "Who are my mother and my brothers?"
34And looking around at those who sat there he said, "Here are my mother and my brothers.
35Whoever does the will of God is brother and sister and mother to me."
Chapter 4
24And he also said to them, "Pay attention to what you hear. In the measure you give, so shall you receive and still more will be given to you.
25For the one who produces something, more will be given, and from him who does not produce anything, even what he has will be taken away from him."
38And Jesus was in the stern, asleep on the cushion. They woke him up and said, "Master, don't you care if we sink?"
39As Jesus awoke, he rebuked the wind and ordered the sea, "Quiet now! Be still!" The wind dropped and there was a great calm.
40Then Jesus said to them, "Why are you so frightened? Do you still have no faith?"
Chapter 5
34Then Jesus said to her, "Daughter, your faith has saved you; go in peace and be free of this illness."
Chapter 7
20And he went on, "What comes out of a person is what defiles,
21for evil designs come out of the heart: theft, murder,
22adultery, jealousy, greed, maliciousness, deceit, indecency, slander, pride and folly.
23All these evil things come from within and make a person unclean."
Chapter 8
2"I feel sorry for these people because they have been with me for three days and now have nothing to eat.
3If I send them to their homes hungry, they will faint on the way; some of them have come a long way."
34Then Jesus called the people and his disciples and said, "If you want to follow me, deny yourself, take up your cross and follow me.
35For if you choose to save your life, you will lose it; and if you lose your life for my sake and for the sake of the Gospel, you will save it.
36What good is it to gain the whole world but destroy yourself?
37There is nothing you can give to recover your life.
38I tell you: If anyone is ashamed of me and of my words among this adulterous and sinful people, the Son of Man will also be ashamed of him when he comes in the Glory of his Father with the holy angels."
Chapter 10
14When Jesus noticed it, he was very angry and said, "Let the children come to me and don't stop them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.
15Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child will not enter it."
16Then he took the children in his arms and laying his hands on them, blessed them.
17Just as Jesus was setting out on his journey again, a man ran up, knelt before him and asked, "Good Master, what must I do to have eternal life?"
18Jesus answered, "Why do you call me good? No one is good but God alone.
19You know the commandments: Do not kill, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not bear false witness, do not cheat, honor your father and mother."
20The man replied, "I have obeyed all these commandments since my childhood."
21耶穌定睛看他,就喜愛他,對他說:「你還缺少一樣:你去,變賣你所有的一切,施捨給窮人,你必有寶藏在天上,然後來,背著十字架,跟隨我!」 21Then Jesus looked steadily at him and loved him and he said, "For you, one thing is lacking. Go, sell what you have and give the money to the poor, and you will have riches in heaven. Then come and follow me."
22On hearing these words, his face fell and he went away sorrowful for he was a man of great wealth.
23Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, "How hard it is for those who have riches to enter the kingdom of God!"
24The disciples were shocked at these words, but Jesus insisted, "Children, how hard it is to enter the kingdom of God!
25It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for one who is rich to enter the kingdom of God."
26They were more astonished than ever and wondered, "Who, then, can be saved?"
27Jesus looked steadily at them and said, "For humans it is impossible, but not for God; all things are possible with God."
28Peter spoke up and said, "We have given up everything to follow you."
29Jesus answered, "Truly, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters, or father or mother, or children, or lands for my sake and for the Gospel,
30who will not receive his reward. I say to you: even in the midst of persecution he will receive a hundred times as many houses, brothers, sisters, mothers, children, and lands in the present time and in the world to come eternal life.
31Do pay attention: Many who now are first will be last, and the last, first."
Chapter 12
29耶穌回答說:「第一條是:『以色列!你要聽!上主我們的天主是唯一的天主。 29Jesus answered, "The first is: Hear, Israel! The Lord, our God, is One Lord;
30and you shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind and with all your strength.
31And after this comes another one: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these two."
32The teacher of the Law said to him, "Well-spoken, Master; you are right when you say that he is one and there is no other.
33To love him with all our heart, with all our understanding and with all our strength, and to love our neighbor as ourselves is more important than any burnt offering or sacrifice."
34Jesus approved this answer and said, "You are not far from the kingdom of God." But after that, no one dared to ask him any more questions.
Chapter 16
15Then he told them, "Go out to the whole world and proclaim the Good News to all creation.
16The one who believes and is baptized will be saved; the one who refuses to believe will be condemned.
17信的人必有這些奇蹟隨著他們:因我的名驅遂魔鬼,說新語言, 17Signs like these will accompany those who have believed: in my Name they will cast out demons and speak new languages;
18they will pick up snakes and, if they drink anything poisonous, they will be unharmed. They will lay their hands on the sick and they will be healed."
19So then, after speaking to them, the Lord Jesus was taken up into heaven and took his place at the right hand of God.
20The Eleven went forth and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the message by the signs which accompanied them.

13I heard someone from heaven say, "Write this: Happy from now are the dead who have died in the Lord. The Spirit says: Let them rest from their labors; their good deeds go with them."
Chapter 12
17Then the dragon was furious with the woman and went off to wage war on the rest of her children, those who keep God's commandments and bear witness to Jesus.
Acts
Chapter 5
3Then Peter said to him, "Ananias, how is it that you let Satan fill your heart and why do you intend to deceive the Holy Spirit by keeping some of the proceeds of your land for yourself?
你不是欺騙人,而是欺騙天主!」 4Who obliged you to sell it? And after it was sold, could you not have kept all the money? How could you think of such a thing? You have not deceived us but God."
5阿納尼雅一聽這話,就跌倒斷了氣。凡聽見的人,都十分害怕。 5Upon hearing these words, Ananias fell down and died. Great fear came upon all who heard of it;
6the young men stood up, wrapped his body and carried it out for burial.
7About three hours later Ananias's wife came but she was not aware of what had happened.
8Peter challenged her, "Tell me whether you sold that piece of land for this price?" She said, "Yes, that was the price."
9Peter replied, "How could you two agree to put the Holy Spirit to the test? Those who buried your husband are at the door and they will carry you out as well."
10With that, she fell dead at his feet. The young men came in, found her dead and carried her out for burial beside her husband.
11And great fear came upon the whole church and upon all who heard of it.
29To this Peter and the apostles replied, "Better for us to obey God rather than any human authority!
30The God of our ancestors raised Jesus whom you killed by hanging him on a wooden post.
31God set him at his right hand as Leader and Savior, to grant repentance and forgiveness of sins to Israel.
32We are witnesses to all these things, as well as the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey him."

Chapter 1
3Brothers and sisters, we should give thanks to God at all times for you. It is fitting to do so, for your faith is growing and your love for one another increasing.
4We take pride in you among the churches of God because of your endurance and your faith in the midst of persecution and sufferings.
5In this the just judgment of God may be seen; for you must show yourselves worthy of the kingdom of God for which you are now suffering.
6Indeed, it is just that God repays with affliction those who persecute you,
7but to you who suffer, he will grant rest with us when the Lord Jesus will be shown in his Glory, coming from heaven and surrounded by his court of angels.
8Then with flaming fire will be punished those who do not recognize God and do not obey the Gospel of Jesus, our Lord.
9They will be sent to eternal damnation far away from the face of the Lord and his mighty glory.
10On that day the Lord will be glorified in the midst of his saints, and reveal his wonders through those who believe in him, that is through you who have received our testimony.
Chapter 2
13But we have to give thanks for you at all times, dear brothers and sisters in the Lord. For God chose you from the beginning to be saved through true faith and to be made holy by the Spirit.
14To this end he called you through the gospel we preach, for he willed you to share the glory of Christ Jesus our Lord.
15Because of that, brothers and sisters, stand firm and hold to the traditions that we taught you by word or by letter.
16May Christ Jesus our Lord who has loved us, may God our Father, who in his mercy gives us everlasting comfort and true hope, strengthen you.
17May he encourage your hearts and make you steadfast in every good work and word.

Chapter 11
1Then I was given a staff like a measuring stick, and I was told, "Go and measure the temple of God and the altar, and count those who worship there.
2Do not bother to measure the outer courtyard, for this has been given to the pagans who will trample over the Holy City for forty-two months.
3Meanwhile, I will entrust my Word to my two witnesses who will proclaim it for one thousand two hundred and sixty days, dressed in sackcloth."
4These are the two olive trees and the two lamps which are before the Lord of the earth.
5If anyone intends to harm them, fire will come out of their mouths to devour their enemies: this is how whoever intends to harm them will perish.
6They have the power to close the sky and hold back the rain during the time of their prophetic mission; they also have the power to change water into blood, and punish the earth with a thousand plagues, any time they wish.
7But when my witnesses have fulfilled their mission, the beast that comes up from the abyss will make war upon them, and will conquer and kill them.
8Their dead bodies will lie in the square of the Great City which the believers figuratively call Sodom or Egypt, where their Lord was crucified.
9And their dead bodies will be exposed for three days and a half to people of all tribes, races, languages and nations who will be ordered not to have them buried.
10Then the inhabitants of the earth will rejoice, congratulate one another and exchange gifts among themselves because these two prophets were a torment to them.
11But after those three and a half days, a spirit of life coming from God entered them. They then stood up, and those who looked at them were seized with great fear.
12A loud voice from heaven called them, "Come up here." So they went up to heaven in the midst of the clouds in the sight of their enemies.
13At that moment, there was a violent earthquake which destroyed a tenth of the city and claimed seven thousand victims. The rest were overcome with fear, and acknowledged the God of heaven.
14The second woe has passed. The third is coming soon.
15第七位天使一吹號角,天上就發出大聲音說:「世上的王權已歸屬我們的上主,和他的基督,他要為王,至於無窮之世!」 15The seventh angel blew his trumpet, then loud voices resounded in heaven: "The world has now become the Kingdom of our God and of his Christ. He will reign for ever and ever."
16The twenty-four elders who sit on their thrones before God bowed down to worship God,
17saying, We thank you, Lord God, Master of the universe, who are and who were, for you have begun your reign, making use of your invincible power.
18The nations raged but your wrath has come, the time to judge the dead and reward your servants the prophets, the saints and those who honor your Name - whether great or small - and destroy those who destroy the earth.
19Then the sanctuary of God in the heavens was opened, and the Ark of the Covenant of God could be seen inside the sanctuary. There were flashes of lightning, peals of thunder, an earthquake and a violent hail-storm.
Chapter 12
1A great sign appeared in heaven: a woman, clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head.
2She was pregnant and cried out in pain, looking to her time of delivery.
3Then another sign appeared: a huge, red dragon with seven heads and ten horns and wearing seven crowns on its heads.
4It had just swept along a third of the stars of heaven with its tail, throwing them down to the earth. The dragon stood in front of the woman who was about to give birth, so that it might devour the child as soon as it was born.
5She gave birth to a male child, the one who is to rule all the nations with an iron scepter; then her child was seized and taken up to God and to his throne
6while the woman fled to the desert where God had prepared a place for her; there she would be looked after for one thousand two hundred and sixty days.
7War broke out in heaven with Michael and his angels battling with the dragon. The dragon fought back with his angels,
8but they were defeated and lost their place in heaven.
9The great dragon, the ancient serpent known as the devil or Satan, seducer of the whole world, was thrown out. He was hurled down to earth, together with his angels.
10Then I heard a loud voice from heaven: Now has salvation come, with the power and the kingdom of our God, and the rule of his anointed. For our brothers' accuser has been cast out, who accused them night and day, before God.
11They conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they gave up their lives going to death.
12Rejoice, therefore, O you heavens and you who dwell in them; but woe to you, earth and sea, for the devil has come to you in anger knowing that he has but a little time.
13When the dragon saw that he had been thrown down to earth, he pursued the woman who had given birth to the male child.
14Then the woman was given the two wings of the great eagle so that she might fly into the desert where she would be looked after for three and a half years.
15The serpent poured water out of his mouth after the woman, to carry her away in the flood,
16but the earth came to her rescue: it opened its mouth and swallowed the flood which the dragon had poured from its mouth.
17Then the dragon was furious with the woman and went off to wage war on the rest of her children, those who keep God's commandments and bear witness to Jesus.
18And he stood on the seashore.

2 Peter
Chapter 2
1Just as there have been false prophets in the midst of the people of Israel, so will there be false teachers among you. They will introduce harmful sects and, by denying the Master who saved them, they will bring upon themselves sudden perdition.
2Many, nonetheless, will imitate their vices and because of them the Way of Truth will be discredited.
3They will take advantage of you with deceitful words for the sake of money. But their condemnation has already begun and their destruction awaits them.
4In fact, God did not pardon the angels who sinned but cast them into hell, confining them in the dark pits, keeping them there until the Day of Judgment.
5Neither did he pardon the ancient world when he unleashed the waters of the flood upon the world of wicked people, but protected only Noah, the eighth prophet of righteousness.
6God also condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, reducing them to ashes, to serve as a warning to the wicked in the future.
7But he saved Lot, a good man deeply afflicted by the unbridled conduct of those vicious people.
8For Lot, a righteous man who lived in their midst, suffered day after day in the goodness of his heart as he saw and heard of their crimes.
9So, then, the Lord knows how to free from trial those who serve him and keep the wicked for punishment on the Day of Judgment.
10He will do this especially for certain people who follow the baser desires of their nature and despise the Lord's majesty. Proud and daring they are not afraid of insulting fallen spirits
11while the angels, who are superior to them in strength and power, do not permit themselves any injurious accusation in the presence of the Lord.
12Those people are like irrational animals born to be caught and killed; after they have slandered what they cannot understand, they will end like animals
13and they will suffer the repayment of their wickedness. They enjoy fleeting pleasures; they are obscene and vicious who delight in deceiving you when they share in your fraternal meals.
14They cannot look at a woman without desiring her, they do not tire of sinning and seducing weak souls. They are full of greed - an accursed people.
15They abandoned the right way and followed Balaam, son of Beor who was attached to what he gained from his wrongdoing.
16But he was rebuked for his sin: his she-ass began to speak with a human voice, stopping the prophet in his madness.
17These people are like waterless springs, clouds driven by a storm which move swiftly into the blackest darkness.
18With their boastful and empty discourses, they encourage the lust and impure desire of those who have just freed themselves from the common errors.
19They promise freedom when they themselves are slaves of corruption: for people are slaves to whatever dominates them.
20Indeed, after being freed from worldly vices through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they returned to those vices and surrendered to them; and their present state has become worse than the first.
21It would have been better for them not to have known the way of holiness than, knowing it, to turn away from the sacred doctrine that they had been taught.
22In their case these proverbs are relevant: "The dog turns back to its own vomit," and: "Hardly has the pig been washed than it again wallows in the mud."
Chapter 3
1Dearly beloved, this is the second letter I write to you. In both of them I have intended to remind you of sound doctrine.
2Do not forget the words of the holy prophets and the teaching of our Lord and Savior, as you heard it through his apostles.
3Remember, first of all, that in the last days scoffers will appear, their mockery serving their evil desires.
4And they will say, "What has become of his promised coming? Since our fathers in faith died, everything still goes on as it was from the beginning of the world."
5Indeed, they deliberately ignore that in the beginning the heavens existed first and earth appeared from the water, taking its form by the word of God.
6By the same word of God, this world perished in the Flood.
7Likewise, the Word of God maintains the present heavens and earth until their destruction by fire; they are kept for the Day of Judgment when the godless will be destroyed.
8Do not forget, beloved, that with the Lord, one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years is like one day.
9The Lord does not delay in fulfilling his promise, though some speak of delay; rather he gives you time because he does not want anyone to perish, but that all may come to conversion.
10The Day of the Lord is to come like a thief. Then the heavens will dissolve with a great noise; the elements will melt away by fire, and the earth with all that is on it will be burned up.
11Since all things are to vanish, how holy and religious your way of life must be,
12as you wait for the Day of God and long for its coming, when the heavens will dissolve in fire and the elements melt away in the heat.
13We wait for a new heaven and a new earth in which justice reigns, according to God's promise.
14Therefore, beloved, as you wait in expectation of this, strive that God may find you rooted in peace, without blemish or fault.
15And consider that God's patience is for our salvation, as our beloved brother Paul wrote to you, with the wisdom given him.
16He speaks of these things in all his letters. There are, however, some points in them that are difficult to understand, which people who are ignorant and immature in their faith twist, as they do with the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction.
17So then, dearly beloved, as you have been warned, be careful lest those people who have gone astray deceive you in turn and drag you along, making you stumble and finally fall away.
18Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ: to him be glory, now and to the day of eternity. Amen.

Acts:
Chapter 2
37When they heard this, they were deeply troubled. And they asked Peter and the other apostles, "What shall we do, brothers?"
38Peter answered: "Each of you must repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, so that your sins may be forgiven. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
39For the promise of God was made to you and your children, and to all those from afar whom our God may call."
40With many other words Peter gave the message and appealed to them saying, "Save yourselves from this crooked generation."
41So those who accepted his word were baptized; some three thousand persons were added to their number that day.
42They were faithful to the teaching of the apostles, the common life of sharing, the breaking of bread and the prayers.
43A holy fear came upon all the people, for many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles.
44Now all the believers lived together and shared all their belongings.
45They would sell their property and all they had and distribute the proceeds to others according to their need.
46每天都成群結隊地前往聖殿,也挨戶擘餅,懷著歡樂和誠實的心一起進食。 46Each day they met together in the Temple area; they broke bread in their homes; they shared their food with great joy and simplicity of heart;
47they praised God and won the people's favor. And every day the Lord added to their number those who were being saved.
